NL–UK TechBridge: Call for Proposals on 2nd-Generation Quantum Technologies Opens
The UK and the Netherlands both have world leading ecosystems for the development of quantum technology. Combining the expertise from both countries with fundamental knowledge of quantum science can accelerate the development of new quantum technologies.
About the NL-UK TechBridge Call
As a concrete next step in building the strategic relationship, this bilateral call aims to support collaboration in the development, prototyping and testing of second-generation quantum technologies; with ambitions to continue this collaboration in the future.
The call already opened on September 15th and closes on October 28th, 2025. There is a maximum of €300,000 in subsidies per project per Dutch consortium available.
Who Can Apply?
With this call, the Ministry of Economic Affairs encourages Dutch entrepreneurs, knowledge institutions, and research organizations to establish R&D collaborations with innovative partners from the United Kingdom. These R&D collaborations are for the development, prototyping, and testing of quantum technology.
Dutch knowledge institutions participate as project partners, unless at least one Dutch company is also participating in the Dutch consortium. Project partners from the United Kingdom can receive funding if they meet the rules and conditions of their own funding organization (UK Research and Innovation).
Scope of the Call
The co-innovation project must focus on development, prototyping and testing of commercial quantum technologies in one or more of the following themes:
Quantum Networking
Software services or hardware solutions to advance commercial deployment of entanglement based quantum networking.
Quantum Computing
Quantum computing algorithms, software applications, and services development.
Quantum Sensing
Adoption of quantum sensing for commercial applications in areas such as biosensing, public infrastructure etc.

Funding
There is a maximum of €300,000 in subsidies per project per Dutch consortium available. This provides Dutch organizations with the opportunity to set up substantial R&D projects in collaboration with their British partners.
