Stimulation of Sustainable Energy Production and Climate Transition (SDE++) 2025 Round Opening Soon
The Stimulering Duurzame Energieproductie en Klimaattransitie (SDE++) 2025 round for entrepreneurs working on green technology has been announced. With a total budget of €8,000,000,000, the SDE++ is open for entrepreneurs working on generating large-scale renewable energy or reducing CO2 emissions. Applications are open from 7 October 2025 until 6 November 2025.
What projects qualify for SDE++?
To apply for a grant, your project must focus on the large-scale generation of renewable energy or on the reduction of CO2 emissions. This includes projects under 5 main categories:
Renewable electricity
- Hydropower installations
- Wind energy projects
- Solar photovoltaic systems
Renewable gas production
- Biomass fermentation facilities
- Biomass gasification systems
Renewable heat generation
- Biomass fermentation for heat
- Biomass combustion systems
- Composting heat recovery
- Geothermal energy systems
- Solar thermal energy installations
Low-carbon heat solutions
- Aquathermal energy systems
- Air-water heat pump installations
- Solar PVT panels with heat pump integration
- Electric boiler systems
- Geothermal energy with heat pump
- Waste heat recovery systems
- Industrial heat pump solutions
Low-carbon production technologies
- Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects
- Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) initiatives
- Advanced renewable fuel production
- Hydrogen production by electrolysis
Who can apply for the subsidy?
The SDE++ grant is intended for both companies and non-profit institutions. The applicant must be the intended producer of the renewable energy or the entity responsible for CO2 reduction.
Grant budget
For the 2025 SDE++ round, a total budget of €8,000,000,000 is available for allocation across all qualifying projects.
Application timeline
The application deadline for the 2025 SDE++ depends on the nature of your project. Depending on its subsidy intensity (requested amount in euros per tonne of CO2), your project will fall under one of five phases with different deadlines throughout the application period.
